Using jEdit

Here are simple steps to get up and running with jEdit.

Topics:

Some people are curious to start using jEdit. To use jEdit, you need to do the following:

  • Download and install Java 1.4.2 or greater if you don't already have it.
  • Download the windows version of jEdit. I'm assuming everyone uses Windows. There are also easy to install Mac and Linux versions on the same page. jEdit is the same across all platforms. The versions just make it easier to install and give it a little of the platform look and feel.
  • After that, start jEdit. Then, go to the plugins manager under the jEdit Plugins menu. You want to install the FTP plugin. That plug-in includes SFTP support.
