Adding a counter my second try

Topics:

Well here I go again, for some reason I’m curious about how many viewers are making their way over to my site. Taking Supriya’s advice, I followed the link in here blog, to get free html text that should display a counter and other visitor statistics about my blog. After writing in my blog nearly 60 times, of course I want to see if anyone is reading. If this works, I suggest that you add it to yours. One thing I have noticed is that everyone in the class is very cognizant of people outside of the class reading their blog. This is another way to track activity.

Google spam suite primer

Topics:

Niall works for a technorati competitor, but he does an excellent job pointing up the flaws in google's ecosystem. The question, as always, is what is the alternative.

Amended response regarding technorati

Topics:

Just moments ago, I made the following response regarding technorati:

Technorati tracks from across the web, not just within the closed circle of this class. Further, Technorati applies an editing function to links. Some count more than others because those sites have more credibility. That can be a good and a bad thing. It somewhat enshrines the powerful and keeps them there. By another token, it helps keep down scam.

Well, it turns out the “Recent Posts” feature of WordPress uses technorati! So, they are the same! The advantage of using technorati in this case is that it will let you create a feed to track your blog which you can load on a page like start.com.

What does technorati do?

Topics:

JB insightfully asks this question after reading Zeena’s follow-up on Tigerlily’s post:

Does high-octane blogging’s “Recent Activity” only pick up links from other blogs using the same blog service? And does Technorati pick up anything from anywhere on the internet? If so, I could see the benefit. But if not, why use Technorati?

Does Technorati do more?

Topics:

Zee makes the following comment:

Our blog sites already show recent responses to our blogs under Dashboard. On the right side under Latest Activity you see everyone who has responded to your posts. Does Technorati offer anything additional to this service?

I had the exact same question in response to the Technorati discussion. I always notice the “Latest Activity” when I log into my blog.

s the difference with Technorati? Does high-octane blogging’s “Recent Activity” only pick up links from other blogs using the same blog service? And does Technorati pick up anything from anywhere on the internet? If so, I could see the benefit. But if not, why use Technorati?

Technorati..does it do more?

Topics:

I haven’t signed up for Technorati like Tigerlily and a few others because I don’t understand what the benefits are. Our blog sites already show recent responses to our blogs under Dashboard. On the right side under Latest Activity you see everyone who has responded to your posts. Does Technorati offer anything additional to this service?

Join Technorati

Topics:

Taking Bud’s advice I have decided to join Technorati. Using the watchlist feature you can actively monitor who is linking to your blog. It is always fascinating to see who has linked to your blog. Plus this is just another way to make your blog more visible to the world. I would encourage you all to do it.

"There are millions of weblogs (blogs for short) online, but many never get read. One reason: blog overload makes it hard to find the good stuff."
